Review of The Great Wall (2016) by Lee S — 21 Feb 2017
Put aside the "Whitewashing" controversy for just a sec. This movie is a Chinese Movie with American actors. There's some very artsy Asian cinema going on, with some Hollywood theme. It's not a great movie at all. Its got some decent action, very good CGI for a Chinese film. However, Matt Damon really can't be anything other than Jason B. and he's just flat in this film. His "accent" goes in and out as English, Irish and something else. Ironically, it was better than I thought it would be just not as good as it needed to be.
Referring to the "Whitewashing" topic, the film was horrid based on that twist on the topic. The idea that a random European would come and save the kingdom is nonsense. I would find that believable if said Gringo was Conan: the Barbarian :).
