Review of The Great Wall (2016) by David C — 26 Mar 2017
Zhang Yimou's latest is certainly miles from the beautiful artistry he used to deliver. This mega budget yarn is not only behind the times in production but also devoid of any real distinctive style.
Gone, are the nuanced colour palettes of the cinematography, gone are poetic displays of action and sadly, gone, are rich, troubled souls that bind the dramatic interplay. Yimou, disappointment prevails this time.
