This was a pretty funny movie. Naturally one would want to compare it to Uncle Buck. My opinion: Apples and Oranges. Uncle Buck was a lot like Raising Arizona in that it wasn't always obvious when they were trying to be funny.
The Great Outdoors, however, made it very clear what was supposed to be funny, sometimes because they were just overdone jokes, but it was still a fun time. Definitely an 80's movie because of music and love situation for the eldest son.
