Review of The Great Outdoors (1988) by Tyler R — 22 Sep 2012
John Candy and Dan Aykroyd team up in this film which follows a man who wants to take his family on a simple woodsy vacation, while his obnoxious brother-in-law tags along and tries to make the whole thing "cooler" for the kids.
Candy and Aykroyd are top notch, giving solid performances, and the rest of the cast fares well too. The jokes are great, and the heart of the story remains intact, never sacrificing one for the other and the film benefits from that.
It is a great film for the whole family, with jokes for both young and old.
