Review of The Great Muppet Caper (1981) by Carlotta 4 — 06 Mar 2011
This is absolutely my favorite muppet movie of all time. The story isn't a big deal, I admit, but it gives the muppets an opportunity to shine, and that's what I like best. The movie wisely focuses on them rather than the humans (but the human actors aren't too shabby either), and there's a lot of good jokes, laughs, and extremely memorable quotes.
I love Gonzo in the opening scene. I love piggy in the prison. I love the rich pompous people eating dinner, and I love the constant breaking of the fourth wall. The muppets have it, and they have it all. If there's a peak of the muppets, this must have been it.
Wonderful, wonderful movie.
