Review of The Great Man (2014) by Leena L — 25 Aug 2014
I was invited to the showing and the following Q&A session with the director, daughter of a friend. I did not know what to expect, except legionairs and afghanistan. The film was enjoyable, oddly so. Interesting insight to the life and code of legionairs and the life of illegal immigrants in France. According to the legionairs' code it is a worse crime to leave behind your weapon than your dying brother in arms. who knew.
What I did know was that French audience is picky and they are not afraid to make their opinions known to the director or anyone else for that matter. And they love their voice and make a point of saying something, even if there is no point in what they say. We left after an hour into the Q&A, as it was 11pm...
