Review of The Great Gatsby (2013) by Shawn M — 12 Mar 2014

I've never read the book or seen any of the other films made so I went into this film blind. I wasn't the pacing of the story that bothered me more than the style of it all. The rap music was ridiculous! I know it was trying to be edgy but just came off as lame.

I wish they would have just played the plot straight. The story was pretty good and was good enough to stand on it's own. DiCaprio and Maguire were great as always and had good chemistry, more than Carey Mulligan as the pathetic damsil.

I may go back and watch the Robert Redford version though just to get a better sense of the story, without the 50 Cent soundtrack.
