Review of The Great Gatsby (2013) by Lim J — 23 Jul 2014
The Great Gatsby exceeded my expectations. I have never read the book - thus did not know much of the storyline. The story is narrated by Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire), and the middleman is Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio). Gatsby is in love with a woman named Daisy (Carey Mulligan). All three actors potrayed the characters perfectly.
The ending completely blew my mind. Daisy killed Myrtle, yet Gatsby's love for Daisy drove him to take up the burden of murder. In the end, Gatsby is killed by Myrtle's husband.
Daisy is a complete bitch. Gatsby gave all his love to her, hell, he even spent five years loving her despite not meeting her face-to-face, yet she did not attend his funeral. Carey Mulligan portrayed the role of Daisy perfectly - especially when she flirted.
It is an awesome movie in all, so I'm going to give it five stars.
