Very nice adaptation to a simple complex story. Well, let's say that there are several simple sides to a 3-dimensional story. The wrapping is really great, we'd think the Americanos know how to party in this film.
Being narrated by Nick, the neighbour and friend, also cousin of the object of desire, the film avoid going through the whole story and the past is skiffed through as short vignettes. Unfortunately, we do not get the attraction for Daisy other than a will to fulfill/keep the narcissistic dreams of both the husband and Gatsby.
Maybe it is like the automatic imprint of the bird coming out of the egg? The only real love being rendered is the one between Gatsby and Nick, finally. Maybe it is an homersexual drama in disguise. Good thrill nevertheless and that is one with a non-Disney ending.
Americanos can do adult, or at least young adult, stories.
