Review of The Great Gatsby (2013) by Jaelin T — 26 Mar 2014
This was one of the best looking movies to grace a screen without a doubt. This movie captures you visually sort of how Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and The Wizard of Oz remake did with a mature approach.
Stunning. Leo DiCap also did amazing job as usual. Although he did have an occasional annoyance in his performance with the overuse of the term "old sport". After awhile it didn't seem sincere.
His accent wasn't too believable either. Limiting that term and having him talk a lot less in which the original Gatsby achieved would've been nice but it's nothing major. All in all despite the unconvincing love triangle that Daisy created it was a great movie.
Visually mesmerizing and lively music that blended modern songs with a early 1900's twist matched and fueled the energy of the film. Slightly better casting would have made this a PERFECT movie in my opinion but I definitely recommend it as a must see rejuvenation to an amazing story.
And hats off to the director, I think he might've gained a new fan lol.
