Nick Caraway is desperate to join the ranks of the newly rich. The stock market is at an all time high and the Manhattan is drowning in its own decadence, the rich and the poor becoming increasingly excessive. But all pale in comparison to Gatsby. The mysterious and illusive host of weekly rampant parties in his huge mansion. But is he all he seems?
This film has been panned and for the life of me I can not see why! Incredibly well directed, one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a film. Fun, ostentatious and very much in keeping with the themes of Fitzgerald's original novel. DiCaprio is superb as is Toby Maguire. I struggle to fault this film! 10/10 a must watch.
