Like the eyes of god.
An extremely wealthy war veteran, Gatsby, arrives in the Hamptons and builds a mansion where he hosts lavish parties. A writer, his sister, and his brother in-law attend these lavish parties where they ultimately meet Gatsby and the writer's sister and Gatsby fall in love. Gatsby spends his life looking for her and now they have found each other. A twisted love triangle ensues.

Baz Luhrmann, director of Romeo + Juliet, Australia, Strictly Ballroom, and Moulin Rouge, delivers The Great Gatsby. I really liked the storyline and characters in this movie. The costumes, set design, and make-up crew all did an amazing job getting the right "feel" in this movie. The acting is fairly good and the movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, and Joel Edgerton.
"My once golden, shimmering mirage made my sick.".
I DVR'd this recently and had been wanting to see it for some time. I did really like this and the only reason I didn't score it higher is because at times DiCaprio seemed too presidential and like a young John F. Kennedy. I felt some of his conversation with Mcguire seemed stiff and too "public speaking." But overall, I recommend seeing this and maybe adding it to you DVD collection.
"She never loved anyone but me.".
