The 2013 version of "The Great Gatsby" is a good movie. I enjoyed the movie and the acting in the movie. This version of the Great Gatsby is better portrayed to the book rather than the 1973 version.

The characters in this movie were wonderful. The casting decisions were amazingly done. They got one of history's best actor, in Leonardo Dicaprio, to play the main role as Jay Gatsby. I think Leo did a splendid job as Gatsby. He really portrayed Gatsby as in the book and his role in the movie was wonderful. Nick Caraway was played by Tobey Maguire, the original Spiderman. Toby did a great job as Nick also. He portrayed a young stockbroker who was new to the world. Seeing Leo and Toby (Gatsby and Nick) play the best friend roles were great, they complimented each other perfectly. Tom and Daisy's characters were brilliantly portrayed as where Tom was a rich snob who whenever ran into problems, fell into his wealth, and Daisy as Gatsby's one true love. Jordan, Wilson, and Myrtle all were great supporting actors and actresses that complimented the main actors and helped this movie.

The setting was more one sided. We got glimpses of the other place in the Gatsby universe, but the majority of the movie was taken at East Egg. We were shown the Valley of Ashes when Tom went to see Myrtle and when Daisy ran over Myrtle. We were shown New York when the whole gang went there to talk about Gatsby and Daisy and also when Gatsby took Nick to show his business and business partners.

The mood of this movie was tragic, pessimistic, and sad. Where everything was ruined for the main character (Gatsby). He ended up dying with Wilson and Daisy. Daisy did not show any empathy for him when he did die, and the "bad guy" ends up winning (Tom Buchanan). Overall, I really enjoyed watching the movie after reading the book, it did a lot of things right and was written very well. It portrayed the party scene very well. People were having a great time, getting drunk, dancing, swimming, and the fireworks was the perfect way to end the night. One scene that was not done well was when Gatsby met Daisy for the first time in 5 years. After Nick left, it didn't seem like theyre were caught in each other enough. Overall, a great movie.
