The film contentedly wallows in its own obsequious faithfulness to the F. Scott Fitzgerald jazz-age masterpiece about the fall of the American Dream. However, by enshrouding its characters in an orb of soft, nebulous inaccessibility, the film distances itself from its viewers and fails to fully connect with its characters.
