Review of The Great Escape (1963) by Evan S — 31 Mar 2009
One of the greatest movies ever made, hands down. Can't beat the plot or the overall drama that personified this film.
McQueen escaping from a German prison camp in World War II. Then you have Charles Bronson, James Garner, Donald Pleasance, and Richard Attenborough as supporting characters. Doesn't get much better than that.
McQueen has fun as the happy-go-lucky American who is always getting into trouble...for his and others' benefit. It is a bit dated, but the acting, suspense, editing and music (the latter also contributing to the dated-ness) make up for it in spades. This movie is a lot of fun.
