Review of The Great Escape (1963) by Junipa C — 22 Jan 2010
Long but absorbing!
MPAA Rating: Unrated.
Runtime: 172 minutes.
Tagline:
Put a fence in front of these men...and they'll climb it...
Plot:
Set in WWII, allied POWs plot an escape for 100s of prisoners from a prison specifically built to prevent escape. Filled with the star power of Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough and many more.
Plus:
Absorbing and suspenseful. The colorful host of characters really add to the drama unfolding on the screen that will keep you on the edge of your seats.
Minus:
A little too long and some of the methods used seems unrealistic (though it is probably historically true!).
Overall:
A WWII classic that is to be watched by all movie buffs!
MY Rating: 8/10.
