Review of The Great Escape (1963) by Nat G — 18 Jul 2010
I guess this has to be one of the best World War II films ever made, when I was young I thought this film dragged, but now I'm an adult I love it. Everything is brilliant about this film, from the plot, being based on a true story, right through to the music.
This film is always quoted and has been copied time and time again, Chicken Run being one of the best copies. Steve McQueen is amazing, and I guess all boys love the chase scene, and you so want him to make it every step of the way.
You need to remember though this is not fantasy, and many people died escaping during the war, we should remember the dead along with the rest of them. A wonderful film, which never gets boring, and if you haven't seen Great Escape, how on earth have you missed it?
