Review of The Great Escape (1963) by Dominic T — 02 Jan 2011
John Sturges' "The Great Escape" is one of the greatest classic war films of all time and probably the most influential. It's filmmaking at its most glorious, with a magnificent ensemble of actors and an atmospheric score.
The story of allied prisoners desperately trying to escape a prisoner of war camp in WWII never gets old; its suspense, strong direction and great camera work ensure it will stand the test of time.
