Bosley Crowther "It's a strictly mechanical adventure with make-believe men".

More like a strictly mechanical review from a make believe critic!

I absolutely cannot believe someone who lived through WWII would not admire this film? Especially since it was based on true events. It's a great film, and one of my all time favorites. 8.3 on IMDB for a dated 1963 war flick is pretty impressive. Not only is it full of top notch legendary actors, Steve McQueen,James Garner,Charles Bronson,Richard Attenborough etc etc it pays tribute to the sacrifices made by ordinary men in order to stop the spread of National Socialism. Without their sacrifice Mr.Crowther RIP may not have had the freedom to write crappy movie reviews like this, and instead may have ended up becoming a lampshade in the American Nazi Newspaper office in Manhattan instead of the NY Times :).
