The music is so well-composed and memorable. The ensemble of legendary actors is amazing. The characters are so unique and different as well. It gives a charm and realism to it that is incredibly unique to even movies today, which was probably obtained through it's true story.
The movie is funny and emotional in all the right places. It's an experience of pure cinema. This movie is so intelligent and differs completely from the norm, yet was still able to be a huge commercial success.
This is definitely in my top 10 war movies of all time.
