Review of The Great Escape (1963) by Gavin P — 28 Jun 2013
They don't make them like they used to! A truly great and mostly inspiring World War II true story - if only they'd taken some artistic licence and made more of them survive than what actually happened! It's not quite as good as 'Shawshank Redemption', but has some very interesting characters, because they're given time to develop, which makes it an almost-three-hour film, but the last 45min is hectic & tense as 75 of the prisoners are on the run from the Nazi's.
Good ending, despite the circumstances.
