Review of The Great Escape (1963) by Lasse C — 29 Dec 2008
One of the truly great movies out of the 60s. Steve McQueen is at his most likeable in this movie Richard Attenborough gives great credibility to his character and the rest of the supporting cast all give great performances.
Almost the entire film is built upon being nail-bitingly tense and to its credit is actually just that. The film is quite long though and this might be detrimental to some people but I found myself enjoying almost every moment.
