Review of The Great Dictator (1940) by Benjamin W — 16 Sep 2011
By far the funniest film about Adolf Hitler ever made. "The Producers" doesn't even come close. And while this was Chaplin's first fully talking film, a lot of his slapstick remained.
It was nice to see that he certainly had a lot to say (especially at the end) after years of silence on the silver screen. It's impressive to realize that this film came out in 1940, before the US even entered WWII, and how bold it must have been at the time.
