Review of The Great Dictator (1940) by Scott M — 27 Jun 2013
I had never seen any of Chaplain's silent films, but was aware of his tramp character, and Chaplain's influence upon physical comedy. This film is amazing. Nazism is satirised, and the speech at the end of the film was quite powerful in its appeal to universal human values.
