Review of The Great Dictator (1940) by Carlos R — 17 Sep 2010
A perfect film from beginning to end. A hilarious comedy when it's supposed to be a comedy, an intense drama with it's supposed to be (specially the ending). Two hours of fun, entertainment and it was really a wonderful experience having watched this movie.
Chaplin played to characters, his traditional Tramp and Hynkel (an obvious parody of Adolf Hitler), and he was superb in both roles. Actually with words it's impossible to describe exactly the greatness of this motion picture.
.. they would never be enough. One of the greatest movies ever made, as simple as that.
