Review of The Great Debaters (2007) by Maksim B — 03 Mar 2009
Somehow I was ignoring this movie for almost an year, even though I've always had it on a DVD during this period.
There have been multiple movies with similar plots and I considered it impossible to be surprised with something. And it seems that I was totally wrong. The Great Debaters is excellently directed, acted and presented to the audience. The movie reveals not only an intriguing story, but also an inspiring one.
Emotionally loaded and enjoyable this movie is a real pleasure for the home video fans. I wish only that there was more time between Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker clashing their political and social points of view.
On a side note, watch out for Nate Parker, he reminds me of the early Denzel Washington and I would not be surprised if he turns out to be the new Denzel Washington.
