Review of The Great Debaters (2007) by Kyle M — 27 Jul 2010
As both director and actor, Denzel Washington avoids practically all the pitfalls of the often trite, heavily worn motivational film. A less restrained use of profanity and more explicit depiction of racial violence would have made this film even more powerful, but I suppose both would have come at the expense of the PG-13 rating and feel good, family-friendly quality.
Regardless, Washington and company bring the justice.
