Review of The Great Debaters (2007) by Greg S — 03 Mar 2009
So Denzel Washington was in this.. but not so much as a lead, but more of a director. He sat back to let the other characters grow.
Forest Whitaker once again shows us why he is an Oscar calibre actor. Incredible performance from him.
The new younsters in this movie also held a strong presence. And how could they not? They were delivering on powerful debate topics to not only convince their fictional opponents, but the audience of us.
One thing that I found overly apparent was the camera work. It liked slow movements to show a scene and the characters in it. I liked that.
Good film. Watch and concentrate. The arguments are compelling and so are the actors.
