Review of The Great Debaters (2007) by Sabrina G — 07 Mar 2009
I enjoyed this look at an unknown event, at least unknown to me. It's a great exposure of another aspect of racism, and an in-your-face look at lynching and its history. Did you know that "lynch" came from the name of a man who was brought to confederate states to teach slaveholders how to "manage" their "coloreds"? I especially enjoyed learning more about the formalisms of debating.
Washington and Whitaker are wonderful, of course.
