Review of The Great Debaters (2007) by Josh L — 09 Nov 2009
Typical above average cookie-cutter for Denzel. Of course I enjoyed it. My spine tingled as the debate team battled there way to the top. My eyes winced at the sight of such racial tension and danger. My heart went out to this fabulous teacher trying to teach his students a valuable. It was like riding a familiar roller-coaster, its thrilling as long as you don't ride it too often.
You know what to expect from Denzel. Check. Forest Whitaker was pretty diece, for a moment I thought he wasn't going to lighten up on his boy! (Sarcasm). I don't know the names of the kids and am to lazy to look it up. But does anyone run funnier than Parker, Jr???
Plot: predictable. You CANT spoil this movie. Everyone knows what is going to happen, really. But, dont worry. I wont spoil what you already know.
This movie is perfect for when you have the want for an uplifting, well written, yet predictable, story.
