Review of The Great Debaters (2007) by Daniel K — 02 Mar 2011
This movie is astounding, I will be arguing the affirmative. The Great Debaters does a spectacular job viewing the experience of four (later three) college students and their time on the Wiley college debate team, and the situations that followed, which weren't all exactly fair.
I first watched this movie in Enlgish class, and I wasn't really sure about it first starting off, but as the movie progressed, it pulled my interest and destroyed my expectations of it possibly being a stupid film, nothing about this movie is stupid, except the racial treatment back then of course.
This movie is very well thought out, and it delivers it in such a passion that I couldn't help but want to see more of these incredibly likable characters even after the credits started playing. In the end, Denzel Washington took the show, displaying the fine acting that makes him well known today, and even as a well done director.
I recommend this movie to anyone who thinks history is boring, let's see what they think after watching this movie.
