For my 500th review I wanted to pick, this amazing piece of film work as my choice. The winner of the best foreign language film this year, The Great Beauty is an italian masterpiece showing the life of artist Jep Gambardella.
This journalist was a one time success on his famous novel and with the critical acclaim he had received from the novel, Gambardella has been enjoying his time in the most elite of the artists social circles.
This great picture is filled with inner meaning, entangled with incredible steadicam shots along with the great architectural and scenic beauty of Italy. Even the lighting of all the scenes have something special in it.
Something about that Rome daylight which gives the whole film look such BEAUTY. As the name suggest it really is a Great Beauty. I've watched it multiple times gathering multiple and new meanings each time.
It really is a new art style I have discovered this year and it really is a must watch at least for the movie buffs out there.
