Review of The Grapes of Wrath (1940) by Edward W — 12 Jan 2008
Henry Fonda was good. Jane Darwell was amazing. The overall portrayal of the struggles of the Joads was very touching and masterfully delivered by Ford. However the film relies heavily on the empathy people feel for various social issues (many of which are very vibrant even today) which in my opinion takes a little from the artistic quality of the film when viewed in a different social setting.
