Review of The Grapes of Wrath (1940) by Dan E — 21 Jun 2008
It's clear why this is a favorite of the socialistic, workers-of-the-world-unite, the-government-is-our-best-friend crowd. (The feds are the only source of decent housing for the Joads.) Even though I don't subscribe to the hokum being pitched by Steinbeck, it's still a pretty good movie.
Maybe I'm attracted to the -- excepting the final 30 seconds -- depressingly, pathetically depressing story.
