Review of The Grapes of Wrath (1940) by Jonathan S — 03 Jul 2008
With the exception of a couple of melodramatic speeches from Ma Joad in the last ten minutes of the film, this is pretty much a perfect movie. Fonda and Darwell are terrific as Tom Joad and Ma Joad, and John Carradine is suitably prophetic as a lapsed preacher.
