Extremely dated, but there are scenes from this film that will rock you to your soul, will makes you shiver and quiver with excitement. It's a classic from the legendary Henry "Dad" Fonda.
Not to familiar with the book but am very familiar with Steinbeck and his whole take on things, Ford did a decent job but I'm not quite sure why people found this film realistic, I think if it was even more realistic it would've been disturbing.
I'm not denying that things were worse, but it's classic Hollywood, they have to keep on looking on the bright side of life.
