Review of The Grandmaster (2013) by Lawrance L — 24 May 2013
The film is beautiful and breathtaking. The action is much better shot than Wong Kar Wai's last action film Ashes of Time. There are amazing fight scenes sprinkled throughout, but nothing as impressive as what Donnie Yen already demonstrated in Ip Man.
The main problem is an hour into the movie, the focus completely shifts to Zhang Ziyi's character before returning back to Ip man for the ending.
