Review of The Grandmaster (2013) by Nuggie V — 30 Aug 2013
I feel horrible that I didn't like this movie. I wanted to love it. I tried to love it. But it's just SO SLOW. The fights are awesome. Everything else is just lingering shots of pretty faces and lots of sadness and brooding.
There was a point in the movie where the main protagonist had been beaten in a fight. I could not figure out what would happen next? So in sadness I walked out, sparing myself what would probably be another 30 minutes of high class artsy camera work and boring conversations.
The IP Man story has been made at least 4 times these past few years, if not more. This is not one of the better ones, in my opinion.
