Review of The Grandmaster (2013) by Mike Q — 13 Sep 2013
So fucking boring...wong kar wai is too in to himself and his "style"...instead of telling a good story or having good dialogue he burns the precious moments you paid for with your hard earned money and tries to turn each set piece into a "oh so beautiful" painting that says way less than thousand words.
There are less than a handful of moments where you can tell he tries to put so much meaning into something without hardly any words that you'll slightly pat yourself on the back for figuring that out, nonetheless you won't forgive whoever took you to this movie or if you took someone else, you better put on a bullet proof vest.
.wish I could take back the time I watched this and watch crouching tiger 3 times. Awful, meaningless, overstretched story. They shouldn't have even made this movie because there was so little to tell and you can tell most of it was the director's way overdone embellisment of probably like one and a half page written in a forgotten history book or kung fu student's journal.
I will never watch a movie directed by this asshole again.
