Review of The Grandmaster (2013) by Kevin L — 04 Sep 2013
Wong Kar Wai is back, with a beautifully filmed martial arts film about Ip Man. Tony Leung and Ziyi Zhang perform very well, and its Woo Ping Yuen's choreography that takes second fiddle to the cinematography.
The opening fight scene isn't the best, but the rest are amazing. The story feels a bit disjointed, (due to the cut US version) but its still an excellent film about legacy and honour. I hope to see an expanded version soon.
