A madcap caper reminiscent of the silent movie era. Yet this film is a treat for all the senses, with inventive cinematography, luscious and creative art production, a delightfully quirky score and a tremendous ensemble cast clearly having barrels of fun in every scene.
Anderson's trademark style is at it's most accessible here because of the emphasis on fun. There are moments of occasional satire on European politics, but overall the film is frothy, light and highly enjoyable.
Ralph Fiennes was the highlight for me, his clipped British demeanour put to hilarious comedic effect in the midst of this crazy, zany Anderson world. Go on, give it a go!
