Review of The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) by Jon P — 30 Jan 2015
Iced, layered and coloured with the meticulous intricacy of a cake from Mendl's Bakery, Wes Anderson's cheeky crime caper is one of 2014's greats.
Anderson's attention to detail, both visually and narratively, is out of this world, and the entire film is a tinderbox of charm, comedy and charisma, decorated with cameos and general sarcastic silliness. Between all this, and the astounding comic turn from actor, Ralph Fiennes, this might just be Wes Anderson's masterpiece. Fast-talking, frivolous fun.
