Review of The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) by Jacque N — 31 Jan 2015
Alright, off the bat I have to say I absolutely adored this film. I definitely see why this film received 9 nominations at the Academy Awards this year. Though directed by Wes Anderson at times I felt as though I was watching a Baz Luhrman film, who is equally brilliant.
Admittedly I felt this was different and fun. The storyline flowed and absolutely loved the scenery. This film definitely has received the proper praise. It was great to see Adrien Brody back in a film, however, I did giggle a little bit seeing his character.
I have noticed that Anderson likes his characters to be quirky and different from other characters. The transitions between past to present was done very well. All of the film flowed nicely and felt natural.
No forced transitions. Adored the film and for sure recommend it. If you want a different storyline with some quirky characters you will get a kick out of this film. I honestly hope this film wins a few Academy Awards.
