Review of The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) by Sector B — 29 Mar 2015
I think that I may have found my favourite movie of 2014. The Grand Budapest Hotel was a delightful, light-hearted, enchanting, precious, charming, and peculiar film. With an emphasis on both charming and peculiar.
The cinematography is simply just excellent and unique, the colours vibrant and engaging. The plot itself is well-paced with drama and comedy without so much as a lull or a drag at any moment of the movie.
The light-hearted musical score compliments and changes along with the story without ever being overwhelming or seemingly out of place but instead it shares and even amplifies the quirkiness of the film.
That's how you recognize a successful music score, it makes you question if it was really composed specifically for the movie or it came along with the hotel itself if you know what I mean. Kudos to the director and whoever else responsible for the excellent execution of this film.
Brilliant acting of all the casts especially Voldemort. This film is just simply excellent.
