Review of The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) by Jonathon P — 11 Feb 2015
Really enjoyed this one. I know Wes Anderson films are an acquired taste. A lot of folks think they're too precious, overly staged and artificial. Personally, I love his films because of the intentional artifice - each shot is like an expertly staged photograph or painting.
Add in the Oscar-worthy performance of Ralph Fiennes (who's always great, IMHO, and not nominated here) and the excellence of his supporting cast (most of whom are Anderson regulars), and this becomes a film I couldn't help but fall in love with.
Maybe you will, too.
