Review of The Graduate (1967) by Curtis R — 28 Apr 2011
What a great cast in a great film . Dustin Hoffman plays mellow college grad Benjamin Braddock who returns to his affluent family after graduation an almost conquering hero. At a party in his honor he is seduced by a bored friend of the family Mrs.
Robinson which leads to a regular affair and secret relationship they began having in a hotel room. Everything is fine until the lovely daughter of the Robinson's Elaine returns home from college. Ben's parents and Mr.
Robinson encourage Ben to begin dating Elaine but Mrs. Robinson wants Benjamin nowhere near Elaine. At first Ben says he wants nothing to do with her until she arrives home and he fallls in love with her beauty.
They begin seeing one another which pleases all but Mrs. Robinson who begins a downward spiral further into her alcoholism. Things go bad to worse for Ben when Mr. Robinson and Elaine find out about the affair.
The Robinsons are now going to divorce and Elaine is engaged to another man. Ben then seeks out to find the church and stop the wedding of his beloved Elaine before it gets to late. I have seen this film many times over the years but just recently saw it in Blu-ray and Mrs.
Robinson's legs never looked so good as they did in high def.
