Review of The Graduate (1967) by Victor D — 05 Jun 2011
A flawless coming of age story in which it seems as if the central character of (then newcomer) Dustin Hoffman, doesnt really seem to learn much until the final shot of this film. It's that look of discomfort and uncertainty which he gives off in that last scene, where he seems as if he might have just thought to himself "What the fuck did I just do?".
The Graduate is brilliant in the way in which it captures the post-college period of worry about what one might do with their future, as well as that impulsive state of being one might turn to in order to put those worries aside.
It's terrific.
