Review of The Graduate (1967) by Harrison W — 26 Jul 2011
A smart, provocative film that at first watches as a coming-of-age almost Shakespearean or Greek plot...Dustin Hoffman is fantastic and the character of Mrs. Robinson is one of the most interesting and bitchy characters I have ever seen in a movie.
Anne Bancroft outdoes herself and the whole thing is all-in-all an offbeat Dramedy that if made today would be a celebrated indie film with quirky and realistic portrayal of life. Benjamin is now an adult, and life throws itself at him purring.
Oh and did I mention Mike Nichol's fantastic direction here? It's brill. B+.
