Review of The Graduate (1967) by Teresa B — 19 Oct 2013
I assume that Jane would think in real life, this situation would be crazy, but in real life, speaking as a 42 year old woman, I know for a fact that when you are 39 and have a passionate fling with a 20 year old man, he will eventually ask about getting permission from you to date your teenage daughter. I guess these young studs want to pursue the same brand of beauty in youth as they experienced and liked in the older version of the choice of brand. So, to answer the question of, "Is this story realistic?" Again, yes in some circles, no in others. Such is life. I think it's very realistic. And depends on what season in life you are in as to whether you enjoy it or are shocked by it.
The unreal aspect of the movie, in my eyes, is that the daughter would fall in love with Benjamin after he was with her mother. In real life, the daughter is usually disgusted by the mother's actions and wants nothing to do with these tainted men.
