Review of The Graduate (1967) by Brett K — 17 Mar 2014
So, maybe this movie was built up too much over the years, and maybe I saw it when I was a little too old to appreciate the message of rebellion depicted in it, but I honestly don't get what all the fuss is about.
Don't get me wrong, this is a solid movie and I did enjoy it, but to be included in so many's pantheon of the greats, I just don't get it. None of the characters are very likable, and the overall message is a little too bleak for my tastes.
From what I can tell, it's a movie about poor life choices with no clear message about what the right ones are. I don't know, maybe I missed something, or maybe melodrama and comedy aren't a great match.
